The Results:

A complex schedule was created to meet the event calendar demands. The tour covered 24 cities in 10 months, from October to September of 2003/2004, with a total of 24 events in 115 event days. The trucks parked at events such as Biketoberfest in Daytona, Honda Hoot, Americade and Bike Week. Plus stopping at Honda locations where they invited press, public and employees to tour their exhibits and test-drive the vehicles.

The (6) 75' long trucks were built to accommodate all vehicle types and the different kinds of events. The trucks required special lift gates to load the vehicles, plus air ride suspension to protect the expensive merchandise while driving from location to location. The trucks also had to be fitted with ample power supply for lighting events and air conditioning units for in trailer areas. Once fully set-up the exhibits take up to 1,400 square feet of demo space under cover, per vehicle and unlimited outside space based on the venue site.

A team of up to 8 people was formed to travel with the exhibits to each event, including reserve staff when needed. As an extension of the Honda personnel, the Comtrans team managed the driving and was involved in the set-up of each event and tear down when it was over.

Because the mobile tours are so successful for Honda, they continue to utilize the expertise of Comtrans year after year.
